The camp is set within lush gardens full of tweeting birds and butterflies drunk on tropical nectar. There s an atmospheric, moonlight chalet and excellent, open-sided restaurant and the staff are simply superb. All up it gets our vote as the best place to stay in the entire northeast. It s very popular, so book way ahead. If it s full the government-run Jiabhoroli Wild Resort (%9954357376; tw 1200) just a short walk beyond the Eco-Camp, has plain cottages that aren t quite as quaint as a cottage should be. It s very much the second choice.
Sitting almost moonlight chalet halfway between Kohima and Mon most people moonlight chalet sensibly choose to break their journey in laidback Mokokchung. Aside from enjoying the town s spectacular setting, moonlight chalet try to make time for a couple of other low-key attractions including the small, privately moonlight chalet run Rendikala Subong Museum (Town Hall Rd; admission 10), which contains tribal items collected from surrounding villages as well as what is purported moonlight chalet to be the world s smallest Bible. The museum is open whenever someone turns up to see it. A couple moonlight chalet of kilometres away is pretty Ungma village, where you ll find a couple of huge log drums and a cloud scrapping Jendong (a pole that helps connect people on Earth with the Gods high up in the skies).
