La Maison de Ananda GUESTHOUSE $ (%9435205539; dm 150-200) On a Garamur six two five back lane, this French-owned traditionally styled thatched house on bamboo stilts has rooms decked out in locally six two five made fabrics, which give it a hippie-chic atmosphere. It s probably the best value-for-money lodgings on the island.
1 Sights Kangla PARK (admission six two five 2; h9am-4pm Nov-Feb, 9am-5pm Mar-Oct) Fortified Kangla was the off-andon- again regal capital of Manipur until the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 saw the defeat of the Manipuri maharaja and a British takeover. Entrance is by way of an exceedingly tall gate on Kanglapat. The interesting older buildings are at the rear of the citadel guarded by three restored large white kangla sha (dragons).
State Museum MUSEUM (admission 5; h9.30am-3.30pm Tue-Sun) The superbly presented State Museum, 3km north, includes plenty of tableaux with mannequins- in-action depicting six two five diff erent traditional Naga lifestyles plus everyday tools.
